FEB '13 SquareHue - Vintage Love Collection

After the success that was the January SquareHue box, I was super antsy to get my February box to see if they could keep it up. Needless to say I tore into it as soon as it arrived & was not disappointed!

If you haven't heard of the SquareHue subscription service, you can check out my first review post HERE or check out their website HERE.

February's Vintage Love Collection includes 1 sexy vampy & 2 girly, romantic shades that are perfect for more than just Valentine's Day. The polishes included are Dear John (a deep, blackened burgundy shimmer - one of those polishes that looks like it's glowing from the inside out), High School Crush (a sheer light pink creme) & Wartime Romance (a medium-rose, mauve-ish creme). Let's get into the photos!

As you can probably tell, my camera was having a difficult time capturing the shimmer in Dear John. Believe me when I say that these photos do not do it justice! It's such a deep, complex color & the shimmer is beautiful! I love a good vampy & don't have any in my stash that look quite like this one. Formula-wise, the only one that gave me any trouble was High School Crush. It was super streaky & took 3 coats to be even remotely even. It probably could have used another coat, too. Despite the formula problems it's still a lovely, delicate pink that I could see myself wearing as undies for a glitter polish. It has just enough blush to it to keep it from being too blah & plain. There isn't much to say about Wartime Romance other than I really enjoy this shade of deep rose/mauve & I'm happy to add it to my collection! It was the tiniest bit streaky after the first coat, but the 2nd coat evened it out & I added the 3rd coat for good measure.

I think that I'm generally more of a fan of the January collection colors, but that's mostly personal preference & I'm still pleased with what SquareHue has to offer. I definitely plan to keep the subscription for many months to come! (I'm hoping for some great greens from March's The O'Hue Collection!)

  1. Just ordered SquareHue! I love the Jan. collection...wish it hadn't sold out! I also love that they donate to A21--an organization that helps rehabilitate people sold into slavery through human trafficking. So cool!
