FEB '13 Ipsy Glam Bag

February's Ipsy Glam Bag theme is "Red Carpet Ready" & it includes some great, useful samples. I love when sample bags/boxes include things that I need/use on a daily basis so I was most definitely happy with this month's offerings! Let's get into it...

The bag itself is a small, black patent leather looking bag with a silver zipper pull & a red interior. It's not my favorite bag that I've gotten so far, but it's simple & useful so I can't be that mad about it.

This post is photo-heavy, so the rest is AFTER THE JUMP!!

The first sample included was a Coastal Scents eyeshadow sample set in In The Spotlight. These aren't colors that I would typically reach for, but the top left & bottom right colors are really pretty & have great payoff. The yellow shade & the bottom left shade aren't my favorite, but if this is your color palette then you might love this quad! The swatches below are over Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion.

The next sample is a black gel eyeliner from Mica Beauty Cosmetics. There isn't too much to say about this one. I have about 4 little pots of gel eyeliner, so I'll throw this one in the rotation. It seems to have pretty good color payoff & staying power.

One of my favorite samples in this month's bag is the POP Beauty Smoky Lash Kapow mascara in Smoky Black. I've been using it for about a week & I love the length & volume that it gives. It can tend to clump up a little bit because of the brush style, but if you've got a lash comb handy you're all set! This was my first time using anything by POP Beauty & I'm definitely impressed. I will have to check out more of their products!

I was really curious about the next sample after seeing it online in a few different places. The Lash Card is supposed to help prevent smudging & clumping during mascara application. I honestly couldn't tell you if that's the truth because I couldn't quite figure out how to use it properly. It's just a little awkward to hold something in your other hand while applying mascara. I'm going to keep trying because it would be awesome if they really worked, but we shall see. It's a great idea, though!

Lastly we have another useful sample, Pixi Flawless & Poreless primer. This primer is oil free, hydrating & hypoallergenic. I've used it a few times & generally like it. It has a creamy consistency & not a silicone-y consistency like a lot of primers & it doesn't feel like you have a thick layer sitting on top of your skin.

Overall, I'm very happy with this month's Ipsy Glam Bag! The eyeshadow quad is the only item that I probably won't use too often, if at all. I'm definitely going to give the Lash Card another try & everything else fits right in with my usual beauty routine! Even though they are all items that I already have versions of, it's always nice to check out new products & have backups.

Are you an Ipsy Glam Bag subscriber? How did you feel about this month's bag? What do you wish they would include in a bag that they haven't? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Oh, I hope you do a post on the lash card and how to use it! I'm a born clumper despite the best of brands so sounds like something made for me.
